The Things Most Overlooked When Buying a House

A daunting job is buying your dream house. In order to eventually land your dream home, there are several distinct things that must be taken care of. You may have gone through several checklists that assist you with what to look for while inspecting a house, but often those lists comprise of only important aspects like location, room sizes etc. There are several other factors that we do not consider as important ones, but taking them into consideration will help you choose a perfect home for you and your family. Here is a list of factors to consider that are often overlooked when buying a house.

Mobile network and connectivity:

It is surprising that this aspect does not make it to many checklists considering how important mobiles have become in our daily life.  Just imagine living in a house with a bad network or no network. Not only is it very inconvenient, but it is also dangerous, as it is extremely necessary these days to remain connected at all times. Be sure to visit multiple rooms in the house that you have shortlisted to ensure that there is good network coverage in the house.

Child safety:

We always make sure that we choose a safe neighborhood, but how often do we consider a child’s safety in the house? It is important to notice factors like the type of nosing of the staircase, the types of locks used, the presence of sharp edges, etc. These factors determine the safety of a child, avoid serious injury during a fall, and help you to prevent any missteps. Opting for handles instead of knobs, rounded nosing for landing, secure railings for balconies, etc. are some of the options that you must choose to ensure safety.

Fire safety:

Another factor that hardly appears in viewing a house checklist is fire safety. While most reputed builders take care of this, it is still very important for an individual to check how safe the house is in the event of a fire. Checking availability of firefighting equipment, the distance to the fire exit, etc. should be checked before shortlisting a home.

The Parking Situation:

One of the benefits of being a homeowner is having a place to park your vehicle when you arrive home. If that is important to you, take note of how easy or difficult it is to find parking space when you view a prospective house.

Pests and other Menaces:

While you look for your dream home, don’t forget to check for pests, insects, etc. Many localities may have severe problems of open drains, water stagnation, litter, etc. which leads to an increased number of mosquitoes and other insects. It should be noted that, especially in older homes, there can be serious problems with cockroaches, silverfish, bed bugs, etc. Homes that are built near water bodies, in new layouts, etc. can have problems related to snakes, rodents, lizards, etc.

Other amenities:
